The more wine I drink the more I want balance also. But the synergy between wine and food goes both ways. Sometimes it's not the wine. Your Pizza was good i'm sure, and it did require a wine with more balance. But let's say you went with truffle oil, fresh garlic and a spicy sausage. I think the Dare would have fit better I agree.
